LED technology and painting

The artist Ghizlan El Glaoui has developed a style of painting that combines ancient art techniques with modern LED lighting technology. Inspired by her heritage, the mosaics capture the essence of the subjects through vivid colours, oils, traditional tempuras and luminescent metallic paints on canvas, which are then illuminated from behind.

Working with a lighting designer, Ghizlan uses a mix of remote-controlled warm and cold light that filters through the canvas to create a luminescent effect and an ever-changing image, offering an innovative way to add interest to a room scheme. The colouring of the lighting can be altered according to individual preference, through and I-pad or the previously mentioned remote control, so that the interactive artworks will appear different, depending on the time of the day.

Interactive surfaces have always been of maximum interest in the new developments for smart facades. It is then easy to see the connection between the applied principle of "changing on demand" both in artwork, and in other visual components of our immediate surroundings.

Adaptability is a highly sustainable attribute to any current developments. It plans the possibility of future change.
