Inspired by organic life, which changes form over time, relating directly to environmental stimuli, a team of scientists from Harvard University has unveiled 4D-printed hydrogel composite structures that change shape upon immersion in water.

In prospect, this could mean a step forward into printed models in general, allowing the creation of real-live animation.
